Updated: 18 October 2026

A weekend is the perfect amount of time for Sighisoara: the citadel is compact and can be discovered at leisure in two days. You spend the first day in the upper citadel, the second slowly, with a long coffee and, perhaps, a trip into the surroundings. The secret is to stay close to the centre, but somewhere quiet.

A weekend at Casa Roșca feels longer and more peaceful.

Day 1 - the upper citadel

You climb into the UNESCO citadel, stop at the Clock Tower, pass through Citadel Square and climb the Covered Staircase to the Church on the Hill.

In the evening, a meal in the citadel and a walk along the walls, when the town empties and becomes yours alone.

Day 2 - at leisure

The second day you take more slowly: a coffee in the square, the colourful lanes and, if you fancy the drive, a trip to the fortified villages or a short hike.
