Viscri is one of the best-known Saxon villages in Transylvania, with a fortified church on the UNESCO list and an air of another world. From Sighisoara you reach it on a day trip, along country roads, among hills and flocks of sheep.

What you see in Viscri
The fortified church, with origins in the 12th century and strengthened later, is the heart of the village. You can climb the tower for a wide view and visit the museum that preserves objects from Saxon life.
The village itself is the attraction: the main lane with its colourful houses, large gates, a smithy and small bakeries. Viscri is also linked to the conservation projects supported by King Charles III and the Mihai Eminescu Trust.
