Sighisoara with kids

A storybook citadel, legends of knights and short trails for families.

Experiences

Updated: 18 October 2026

Children love Sighisoara because it looks like something out of a story: towers, citadel walls and legends of knights and Dracula. The citadel is compact and seen on foot, and the short routes and an easy hike make the holiday enjoyable for the little ones and the parents alike.

What children love in the citadel

The climb up the Clock Tower, with the clock's figurines and the view from the top, is always a hit. The legend of Vlad Dracul's House fires the imagination, and the Covered Staircase is like a tunnel from a story.

In summer, at the Medieval Festival, the town fills with knights, craftspeople and music — a show the children love.

Exercise and nature, to their measure

For some extra energy, an easy walk to the Breite Plateau, among old oaks, is just the thing. The trails are short, and the meadows are perfect for a break.

Plan everything around rest: the citadel in the morning, a break at lunch, an easy walk in the afternoon.

Where you stay: an honest note

Casa Roșca is a small, adults-only guesthouse — best suited to a parents' getaway, when you return to Sighisoara without the little ones. For a stay with children, we'll gladly point you to other options in the area.
