The Breite Plateau is a nature reserve of ancient oaks, about two kilometres from the centre of Sighisoara. Some of the oaks are between 400 and 600 years old, and the place is considered one of the great oak reserves in this part of Europe. It's an easy walk and a green refuge on the edge of town.

On the plateau grow giant oaks, many over four centuries old, witnesses to the history of Transylvania. The wide meadows and the old trees make Breite a quiet place, good for a walk and a picnic.
The reserve is protected and cared for through conservation projects, so the oaks will endure for the generations to come.

The trail starts in town and climbs a slope towards the forest; the path is marked and can be walked in a short time. Take water, comfortable shoes and, if it's hot, a hat.
