A little dose of story, before you visit us.
One of the few still-living medieval citadels in Europe, on the UNESCO list since 1999.
The tower, over sixty metres tall, changes the clock's figurine every day.
You can still step through an old door into the house where Vlad the Impaler is said to have been born.
For centuries, a covered staircase has carried people up to the hilltop school, sheltered from the rain.
The citadel had fourteen towers, many named after guilds; nine still stand guard.
At the top, the Church on the Hill holds rare Gothic frescoes from the 15th century.
Once a year, the citadel turns back into the Middle Ages: knights, craftsmen, music.
Ochre, pink and blue façades colour every lane of the old citadel.
Since the 13th century, the town's name has appeared in documents: a living antiquity.
The Saxons called it Schäßburg; the Hungarians Segesvár. History can be heard in its names.
For centuries, the Clock Tower was the town hall; the town was governed from here.
Citadel Square once hosted fairs and clamour; today, terraces and long coffees.
